Compared to version 2.4, the system requirements for Active FoxPro Pages 3.0 have slightly increased.
· Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 Server
· Web server with ISAPI interface (IIS 4 or higher, Apache 2.0.x or higher, WebWeaver, WebSite, etc.)
· The Debug mode and the development of plug-ins require Microsoft VFP 7 or higher.
Installing AFP 3.0 is far simpler than before. Just run the file AFP3Setup.exe and follow instructions.
Quick joke on the side. The individual steps of the installation routine will be discussed in greater detail below, and we will let you have a glimpse behind the scenes. As we mentioned above, we start the installation by running AFP3Setup.exe. You will need administrator privileges for your system. If you don't have these, the setup will terminate with the corresponding instruction notice.
There have been indications that the SharePoint Portal Server may impede the smooth installation of the Active FoxPro Pages due to the fact that the SharePoint Portal Server may use modified system files. If you wish to install AFP on a machine with a SharePoint Portal Server, please contact AFP Support to obtain instructions for a manual installation.
We recommend the use of the NTFS file system both for the drive where the AFP will be installed and for the drive with your Web files. There may be problems in FAT based file systems due to the absence of privilege administration.
Once all conditions have been fulfilled, the license agreement will be displayed.

Once you have accepted the license agreement and clicked Next > the main setup dialogue will display. Here you may view the current AFP status in the Read-me file and you can decide which installation type - Recommended, Full, or Advanced – to install in the target directory.
What does that mean? Recommended signifies the standard installation type that will install AFP 3.0 without additional components like downward compatibility or plug-ins. The full installation is the exact opposite. Everything the setup file has to offer will be installed on your machine and subsequently configured. For users who want to be in the know we offer the advanced installation. If you choose this installation type, you are in control of each step and its options. This will require you to handle more dialogue in the course of the installation process.

At the end of the installation process, the AFP3 service will be installed and launched. Further entries are provided in the menu Start. At this point, AFP is already running.
The setup lets you run an automatic Web server configuration. AFP-specific file extensions within the Web server configuration will be re-routed to AFP3.DLL. During the advanced installation you can choose the options yourself. At the time of this writing only Microsoft Internet Information Services and VisNetic WebSite can be auto-configured. This is unfortunately not possible with Apache. For the Apache Web server, we will provide you with httpd.afp.conf as a template that you may use to customize your own httpd.conf.
In the concluding dialogue you may carry out some additional steps. We recommend that you visit the official Web site - there may just be a newer version of the Active FoxPro Pages available for download.

If you use Windows NT 4 you will now have to re-start your system. After the re-start, the full functionality of the AFP 3.0 ControlCenter will be at your beck and call.
