On this screen you specify the directories in which AFP should be allowed to operate. In most cases, the root directory will point to the application directory that was entered during installation. If no entry has been made, this is equivalent to the folder containing the configuration file afp.config.
The directory Common files points to the location where the shared metadata are stored whenever AFP is deployed in a cluster. In most cases, this will be equivalent to a network clearance on a different system. As in the majority of cases there won't be a cluster, this value will correspond to the root directory.
Whenever an AFP document is called for the first time, the Visual FoxPro runtime library will compile it and deposit it in the cache. This assures materially shorter reaction times for all subsequent calls. The Cache Directory is normally subordinated to the directory of shared (common) files.
If you wish to have detailed information about the compilation process during development – these protocols are stored in the directory Protocol.
While the administration table for the individual sessions is stored in the directory for shared files, the individual temporary sessions are defined by the session path data. By default this value is deposited in %common%.
