The use of the event log may be limited on the grounds of security reasons or firewall restrictions. AFP provides a second method to get at event and error messages. To this end, take a closer look at the configuration attribute of the log file. In that file, you can arrange for the output to be made in a simple text file. This is especially useful if your access possibilities are limited, you want to receive the event log per e-mail, or to check the status on your cell phone. The possibilities are many.
